I haven’t been posting anything for a long long time. But today, I wanted to write about something that invaded major part of my heart lately.
You don't know how much it means to me that I found Downhere and Marc Martel last year. It was huge. It was really huge.
Deep in my heart, I have been having a kind of disappointment on overall quality of Christian music (Sorry ! Christian musicians) since I became a serious Christian.
I love God. I am willing to give up earthly things for Him. Or should I say rather I became disliking the earthly things. Even when the quality of music is great, most of Rock or Pop music sing about lies, things that let us down or lead us away from God. I stopped listing to that kind of music because of my conviction.
Mozart Operas, Wagner and the Queen.
Oh Queen!! And Freddie. They are so talented, with their technique, high complexity in their music composition, there is no other rock / pop group can beat them still now in my opinion. (Although I don’t know much about recent music at all) Their sound never gets old. But they were so secular; their behavior was stupid, many of their songs sing what I am not able to agree with. I decided to leave their music behind for my love for God. It was about 25 years ago.
But in my heart, there's been emptiness. My craving for good music did not seem to be satisfied. I have been trying to convince myself: this is a necessary sacrifice. This world is not the heaven. We cannot have everything.
Then one day while I was listening to “Joy FM” a Christian music station in STL, I heard “Freddie” was singing Christian music. (My children know that I cannot continue listing to the station for a long time but the story can wait until next time.) Since I am a very busy full time worker/a mom of three teen agers, I was not able to search for the “Freddie” for a long time. When I found that it was “How Many Kings” by “Downhere” a group from Canada, I think about a year had already been past.
Then I made myself busy finding them out, finding their CDs, buying them, downloading them, and searching them on YouTube. You know what I found on YouTube: yes, the lead vocal of Downhere, Marc Martel was nominated to join the Queen Extravaganza. “Of course”, I thought.
That was the path I have been taking last year.
I wanted to listen to good music dedicated to God. Music to God doesn't necessarily have to be in "Church words". This world is created by Him. When the world is treated in a way that God first intended, worldly things are heavenly things. Instead of decorating worldly things with heavenly ornaments, but rather having heavenly things in the worldly representation: isn’t that what God wants us to do? After all He is the one who decided us to stay in this world for now. And when I heard what Marc Martel said in the interview when he was heading to the whole Queen Extravaganza affair, I knew that Marc also believes that God pulled him out of the “Christian” world to the real world to do HIS work.
I just wanted to share my thoughts with you. Please see the interview. He is a chosen one. As you and I are chosen for a God's special work that only you and I can do. I want to pray for Marc, so that he won't be dragged to God's enemy's side , which happened to Freddie Mercury.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14LBRqU_neY
